It’s about time I jumped on the smoothie bowl train… acai bowls to be exact.
In case you’ve never tried acai, (ah-sah-ee), it’s one of the most nutritious, antioxidant-rich, high fiber, and healthy fat property foods on the planet– it’s even considered a superfood. Açaí berries come from the açaí palm tree, which is native to Central and South America, and most commonly found in the Brazilian Amazon Forest. It’s been used for thousands of years by natives as natural energy/immune/beauty boosters so its no wonder that it’s become so popular.
The various types of flavors and ingredients that you can incorporate into your smoothie bowl are endless:
-Cereal (yes, even cereal)
You can basically add anything that you can think of.
The nutritional perks of açaí bowls can truly do the body good from the inside out. After all, if you eat good you’ll feel good 🙂
• ¼ cup milk (coconut milk for a sweeter taste)
• ½ ripe banana
• 1 acai purée packet (any kind that you prefer)
• ½ Tbs. cacao powder
• ½ ripe banana, thinly sliced
• 2 tsp cacao nibs
• 1-2 Tbs. shredded coconut
Add any extra toppings that you love!!
Prep: Place a bow into the fridge or freezer prior to making so the base mix doesn’t melt or get runny!
1 Prepare your toppings, such as the the banana slices, cacao nibs, shredded coconut, etc. Set aside.
2 Combine the ingredients in your blender and puree until smooth (remember this isn’t a typical smoothie so it needs to be t h i c k).
3 Pour your mixture into the bowl and top with toppings. Enjoy!
